Allan Guei was a standout player on the Compton High School basketball team, but when he stepped to the free-throw line for a chance to win $40,000 in college expenses, he admitted to feeling a little pressure.

He made five out of 10 attempts in the March competition, edging the first runner-up, who sank four underhanded baskets as she trembled at the line.

But it was the 18-year-old's next move that astonished his classmates at last month's graduation ceremonies.

Washington Wizards star John Wall earned something of a reputation for his dancing during his one year at the University of Kentucky, before being snapped up as the first pick of the 2010 NBA draft. The point guard, and his namesake fist-flex choreography, appear in this new, humorously self-deprecating campaign for ESPN's 2011 ESPY Awards, hosted for the second year running by comedian Seth Meyers. (Notably, Wall canceled plans to attend the show last year, despite ultimately winning for best male college athlete.)

As you head south out of town on State Route 28, just before you reach Oasis Park there is a large purple billboard that has the whole state talking.

Western Governors University (WGU), a non-profit online university has put up a billboard — the only billboard of its kind in the state — advertising their school programs.

"It's a tongue-in-cheek thing," explained Lori Bawden an executive assistant for the Utah-based school. "We picked Ephrata because it's the middle of Washington."

PORTLAND, Ore. — A commercial that John Spencer shot for Portland Timbers sponsor Alaska Airlines has gone viral this week, and is offering the world a peak into the head coach’s sense of humor.

The commercial, the first in a series called “Alaska Airlines/Portland Timbers Employee Exchange,” shows Spencer barking instructions on an intercom to a very confused group of airline passengers.
