Tracy Wong, Chairman of WONGDOODY, was named one of the “Most Influential Art Directors of the Past 50 Years” in a recent nationwide survey of advertising and design professionals conducted by this year by GD USA Magazine.
The list of 25 is a virtual “who’s who” of advertising legends who have left an indelible mark on the creative industry. Among them: Lee Clow of TBWA\Chiat\Day, Hal Riney of Hal Riney & Partners, David Kennedy of Wieden+Kennedy, Rich Silverstein of Goodby/Silverstein & Partners, Alex Bogusky of CP+B, George Lois of Esquire Magazine and Helmut Krone of Doyle Dane Bernbach.
“This list is full of legendary talents who have defined our industry for five decades. It’s incredibly humbling to be included,” said Tracy. “‘Influential’ is not just about winning awards. It’s about longevity, and having a body of work that changes the way creatives do their jobs, which reshapes the advertising business, and therefore culture at large.”
According to the magazine, “Design talent is diverse, individualistic, nuanced, virtually incapable of being quantified or ranked – literally thousands of designers and art directors have made meaningful contributions to the discipline over the past half century. But among the many, a few stand out.”
The survey is part of a massive poll in celebration of GD USA’s 50th anniversary. Other surveys include “most influential graphic designer,” “most influential corporate brand” and “most influential advertising agency.”
