SIFF Starring You

SIFF Starring You

April 25, 2018 WONGDOODY is proud to showcase “Starring You,” our latest promotional campaign for the annual Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF). This marks the 15th consecutive collaboration between WONGDOODY and SIFF — two longtime stakeholders in the Seattle creative community — and our first collaboration with creative design and production studio Electric Sheep.

The fully-integrated “Starring You” campaign focuses not on the stories you see on screen, but the stories that will unfold when you attend SIFF. “The landscape of film and entertainment has changed,” said WONGDOODY Creative Director, Monkey Watson. “With on Demand and Streaming services, shared movie experiences are growing fewer. So, we centered the campaign around the idea of giving the audience an experience they couldn’t get at home, alone, streaming on laptops.”

WONGDOODY’S online and broadcast trailer, directed by Electric Sheep, references SIFF genres ranging from period dramas and rom-coms to Japanese sci-fi and screwball comedy to show that SIFF is the perfect opportunity to experience the exhilarating rush of sharing stories and seeing the world through someone else’s eyes.

The campaign was extended with out of home, snapchat filters, Instagram stories, lobby installations, and in-theatre “Movieoke” videos that prompted audiences to act out their favorite lines from iconic films and cult classics. “SIFF isn’t just about film, it’s about fun,” said Copywriter Adam Nowak. “Giving people the platform to be the star of their favorite scenes, even if it’s just for a few seconds, reflects the unique spirit of SIFF. It’s a participatory fan experience you won’t get at Sundance, Tribeca or from your TV.”

WONGDOODY also worked with production studio, Pixvana, to create Virtual Reality Experiences, where film goers could put on their Oculus headsets and be transported into the middle of a movie scene where they could truly be the star.

The “Starring You” campaign officially ushers in SIFF’s 44th year. Recognized as one of the top film festivals in North America, SIFF will present more than 400 films from 80 countries during the festival’s 25-day run. For more information on SIFF, please visit http://www.siff.net/.
