Michael Boychuk
SENIOR DIRECTOR, CREATIVE
Chuk (Chook) attended Washington State University, where he earned a B.F.A. in graphic design and a B.A. in advertising. His career in advertising began at Livingston & Co./Seattle, where he met Pat Doody and Tracy Wong and earned a nonexistent living as an unpaid intern. Upon completion of the otherwise fulfilling internship, Chuk moved on to work as a freelance designer at several Seattle-area design shops.
When Chuk heard that Pat and Tracy had left Livingston to start their own agency, he got a job in a real estate office space next to theirs and hung around until he was hired as employee No. 3 a couple months later.
In the Seattle office Chuk worked on accounts that included Helly Hansen, Microsoft, the Seattle Supersonics and Virgin Interactive. In 1998 he relocated to open WONGDOODY Los Angeles with CEO Ben Wiener.
In L.A. he has worked for clients such as adidas, Alpine Electronics of America, CLIF Bar, Fox Sports, Johnny Rockets, the Los Angeles Dodgers and MGM Home Entertainment. He has been recognized nationally and internationally with awards from Cannes (a Gold Lion), the Clios, Communication Arts, Art Directors, The One Show, Graphis and The Belding Awards.
A few years back, Chuk took a six-month hiatus from WONGDOODY in order to make a 22-country round-the-world journey with his wife. During his travels he was chased by a mob in a dispute over dead people on the Ganges, he was involved in a terrible misunderstanding about fruit with a cane-wielding octogenarian in Beijing and was nearly lost at sea in Thailand.
